Outlook 2003 new message notification

I've noticed that Outlook 2003 does not notify of new messages that are not
delivered to the default Inbox folder. I have many rules that deliver
message to other folders and receive no notification of delivery - no sound,
mouse changes, or closed envelope in the sys tray... Is this by design?
Have I missed a configuration option? I know the new Desktop Alert feature
is only for the Inbox, but has the code changed to exclude all folders other
that the default?

Thanks a lot,

Andy

are they server or client rules? if server rules and using cache mode, they
get moved on the server then sync with your mailbox, so no new flags. you'll
need client rules or disable cache mode.

Rules are server and cached mode is not turned on.

So, in order for the new message notification to work, rules have to be
client now? And how do you move rules from server to client?

Well, it looks like that will work. Pretty lame, if ya ask me, especially
if you have a lot of rules or move from workstation to workstation.
Definitely not a corporate friendly move on the part of MS.

Microshafted again.

Thanks very much!
