Hello,

I installed Outlook 2003 and was getting a message that I had to delete some
e-mails because the size of my folders was too large at almost 2 GB. I
deleted a lot of Sent Items with attachments and gained enough space. Some
new e-mail came in, but I noticed that none of the e-mail that I had seen out
on webmail came in. There were perhaps 40 e-mails that never showed up.
During the Send/Receive process when I opened Outlook originally, it appeared
that they had come in although the Send/Receive ended with the error that I
needed to delete some e-mails. None of the e-mails are out on webmail any
longer.

Is it possible to recover those e-mails?

Thank you for your help!
Jen

I am not using an Exchange account. View is arranged by date and shown in
groups. My Inbox has Last Week through Thursday and then lists Yesterday and
Today. It is missing Friday through Sunday's e-mails.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Jen

Have you tried searching for mail of a specific date, or from a specific
Contact if you know who one was from.
As far as I'm aware outlook 2003, by default, has no registry setting set
for the maximum folder size.

Yes, I searched for a specific date and for a specific name on All Folders.
Nothing came up. Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks,
Jen

No, there weren't any rules set up. Well, thank you so much for your help.
I guess they're gone.

I have seen reports of exactly what you described: Outlook downloading and
deleting the incoming mail from the server but losing it when trying to
store it to the Inbox in a PST that had grown too large. If that's what has
happened, it's likely you're out of luck and the messages are permanently
gone. However, Outlook 2003 can have PSTs that reach 20GB and larger, so
you appear to be using a PST that's from an earlier version of Outlook. You
should right now, before any more time goes by, create a new PST, copy your
existing data to it, then make that new PST your delivery location. You
won't have size problems again.

Yes, that's exactly right. I was using Outlook 2002 and then upgraded to
2003. I'll create the new .pst now. Thanks for your help, Brian!
