Outlook 2003 maximize from System Tray.

This has to be a bug in Microsoft Outlook 2003. I can right-click the icon in the System Tray, choose Open Outlook and Outlook 2003 will NOT maximize. Do it again and it does. I can double-click the Outlook 2003 icon in the System Tray and Outlook 2003 does NOT maximize. Do it again and it does.

I use an application that will send windows to the System Tray (TrayIt!) and that thing worked everytime. If it behaved like this Send to System Tray does in Microsoft Outlook 2003 I would have junked it long ago. But it doesn't. It works evertime I use it. That cannot be said for Microsoft Outlook 2003's native support for Sending to the System Tray.

Is this behaviour the same when TrayIt! doesn't run? I've got Outlook 2003
running on a lot of configurations and haven't come accross this behaviour
on any one of them.

TrayIt! starts up at boot. I'm not sure if disallowing that stops this issue. But I'll give it a shot for a few days.

Hi Roady I just realized something. I have a few other applications that natively provide the minimize to System tray. And those with TrayIt! running have never exhibited this issue. So even if the issue is fixed by stopping TrayIt! from starting at boot, this Outlook 2003 issue (testing now) still means it's a Outlook 2003 issue don't you think? No other applications that I use that natively support minimize to the System Tray exhibit this issue while TrayIt! is running. Only Microsoft Outlook 2003 exhibits this. Weird.

I use a program called "all to tray" and it creates a 2nd tray icon for Outlook 2003 when I click minimize. The problem does not exist using it.

Yes that is why I don't use TrayIt! on Outllook 2003. But I did use it on other applications. And so far one days running now this issue that I mentioned has not occurred. It will take a few days after various rebootings to determine if in fact the issue is gone with TrayIt! not running. But as Microsoft Outlook 2003 is the ONLY application I have which exhibits this bevaior of not maximizing from the System Tray (natively supported) when asked once, I suspect it is still a Microsoft Outlook 2003 bug. In my understanding it is not calling\receiving the Windows ShowWindow function correctly. That may be another reason why Outlook 2003 takes so gosh darn long to appear in all its glory. 300MHz machine PII.
