I recently installed Outlook 2003 as part of MS Office 2003Professional
Edition. After installation and installation of all recomended updates,
Outlook I get a window announcinf that Outlook has experienced some sort of
error and needs to close. I have tried reinstalling the software (all of
Office 2003) and that doesn't seem to work.

What can I do?

We need to know the Details. When you get an "Illegal Operation" or
"encountered a problem" message, there's usually a "Details" button or a
"click here" link to see the error report. When you click the button/link,
it will show a message like: XXXX caused an error in YYYY and a bunch of
register nonsense or it will list the Appname XXXX and Modname YYYY. The
XXXX and YYYY are important to identify the cause and solution. You can
ignore the rest of the message.

Thanks Hal,
I surprised myself yesterday and apparently have solved the problem as it
has not occurred since yesterday afternoon. What I did was simply to totally
uninstall the office 2003 and then reinstall office 2003. However this time
when I was asked if I wanted to keep my old settings I checked "No". Of
course this meant that I lost all my old email (I didn't have the sense
enough to save these before I did this procedure), calendar, contacts, notes,
and tasks. Fortunately I was able to resync with my pocket pc and retreive
all the contacts calendar, tasks, and notes. I don't pretend to understand
why, but this seems to have worked.

So thanks again.

The Real Solution-Regcure is NOT a fix (save yur $)

IT IS FREE

1) Create a New Profile
and transfer your data into it

2) In Internet Explorer, Delete Temp Files

3) Show Hidden Files

4) Run scanpst.exe
(search your computer for this file) and choose your new PST file (located in C:/Users//App Data/Local/Microsoft/Outlook)

5) Get rid of all unnecessary emails in your inbox, sent, and deletes (in Outlook). Clean up your calendar

6) Compact your Personal Folders (very important)

You Outlook PST file should never be bigger than 1 GIG and <=500 MB is always preferred. This took me a lot of time to figure this out—I believe in Karma and that Sarah Palin is an Idiot.
