I'm unable to find the place under Tools>Options and Tools>Email Accounts
where Outlook allows you to retain an email on BOTH the server and the
Outlook client. We just installed Win2K3 server and Exchange Server 2003.
Things are fine but I can't find this little 'checkbox'.
Where is it?
TIA,
Tom

No need. Connecting to an Exchange mailbox with the Exchange service always
retains data in the mailbox until the user deletes it.

Fine, Sue!
1) Now, IF I setup various folders in MY Outlook client are those folders
AUTOMATICALLY setup in Exchange 2003 also?
2) Then, when I move emails from the Outlook client Inbox to a folder is the
email automatically removed from the Inbox in BOTH the client and server or
is the email just marked for deletion.
3) I presume that utilizing Rules has the same outcome on the client and
server as-if the email was manually moved. Correct?
TIA,
Tom

Yes, if you are accessing your mailbox with the Exchange service and set
them these folders in your Exchange mailbox folder hierarchy, not in a .pst
file.

It depends on the destination folder. If you move it from one mailbox folder
to another, it's still on the server. If you move it to a .pst folder, it's
not.

Yes.

There is obviously some underlying agenda in your questions. What is it?

HI Sue:
I did the dumb thing of moving my inbox into a .pst folder, and can't find a
way to move it back out. How can this be done? I'm losing my email :((.

Thanks, Bing Germaine

Click Tools>E-mail account>Next. Examine the drop-down at the lower left.
What does it contain?
