Wow. Major kudos to Microsoft for their new junk mail filter in
Outlook 2003. It works EXCELLENT!

Here is my question: How can I create a rule that utilizes the event
of email that is caught by this new feature. In other words, I want
to create a rule that forwards all email to my cell phone EXCEPT if it
is caught by the new 2003 junk email filter. The problem is that I do
not see any kind of event for this in the creation of a rule. Any
ideas?

Thanks,
Tom

From what I understand, rules are applied *after* email arrives in the
Inbox.

There is no event - and rules run before the junk filter, so the best
you can do is use rules to forward mail based on the sender (or subject)
or try some of the SMS plugins to see if they might offer some type of
rules that will avoid forwarding junk.
Another option is use a server side filter so less spam is brought into
Outlook, so there is less to forward.

Diane,

Thanks for the info. I've tried all kinds of things to block spam and
can get maybe 10%. The new Outlook filter gets about 95%!

I've heard that Exchange 2003 has the same technology server-side. Is
that true? That may be reason enough for us to upgrade.

Thanks,
Tom

The IMF does use similar technology... But with a big BUT attached...
At this time, you need to be a software advantage subscriber to get it
free (or to get it at all). It might be cheaper to buy a 3rd party utility
if you aren't a SA subscriber at this time. :) GFI Mail Essentials, NEMX,
Sunbelt's IHateSpam are but three of a long list of server side utilities
that can remove a large chunk of the spam before it hits the mailbox.

See http://www.slipstick.com/addins/content_control.htm for a more complete
list.
