Outlook 2003 isn't catching junk e-mail.

I recently upgraded from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003. I never used the junk mail filtering in Outlook 2002, but I want to start using this feature with Outlook 2003

I have about 10 rules currently defined, which I have upgraded to Outlook 2003 format, and are merely very simple rules which move messages coming from a specific account to a specific folder. As I understand it though, the junk mail filter is supposed to act first, before rules

Outlook has not yet moved a single email item to the junk e-mail folder. As I understand it, Outlook will "learn" more about junk mail if you put it in the junk mail folder, so I have moved all of my junk mail to the junk mail folder manually..

However, I continue to get obvious, repeated junk mail that I would expect Outlook to catch. It certainly feels like the Junk mail filter is not working. I continue to move my junk email manually dragging them to the junk mail folder

I'm starting to think there must be something wrong. Has anyone else had this experience? Anyone have any suggestions for fixing it

I have my junk mail options set on high

Thanks for any help
Brian

Outlook 2003 does not do any active learning about junk mail, unless you count the blocked and safe senders and recipients lists that the user can build. There is no advantage to moving items to the junk mail folder -- just delete them.

You may get better results if you bump up the junk mail filter to High, if it isn't there already.

The problem is that when you define a rule, for whatever reason, Outlook overrides any junk filtering it would do, assuming you want the mail moved where you specified, no matter what. I am having the same problem, and have yet to figure out how to fix it

Hopefully this will at least help you explain to anyone else what's going on.
