Outlook 2003 installation problem

I installed Office 2003 (from Microsoft Home Use Program)
and it upgraded the existing Office 2000. When I start
Outlook it starts the process of migrating the old stuff
and then stops with a error saying "Cannot start
Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook
window. The set of folders could not be opened.". Click
OK and Outlook closes.

I looked in the knowledge base and there was one article
on this about some interaction with a PocketPC device. I
don't have such a device.

I tried to open up a support issue but the support page
doesn't like my product id. Maybe Home Use gets not
support?

Anyway any help appreciated.

First run scanpst.exe against your pst-file to make sure it doesn't hold any
errors. If it Outlook still doesn't start after that you'll need to recreate
your mail profile in Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles. You can
then connect to your old pst-file by using File-> Open-> Outlook Data
File...

Thanks very much for the prompt and accurate reply.

Running scanpst didn't fix the problem but your second
suggestion of recreating the mail profile did.

Thanks again,

James
