I have just got Outlook installed and Sending emails is no problem. However I
cannot receive emails and seem to have tried every permutation of settings
under the sun. The test works with ticks against all the entries. What on
earth can I be doing wrong? HELP PLEASE.

Do you get any error messages when trying to receive? Have you tried using a
new mail profile?

Joselyn,
Thanks for looking at this for me. No, there are no error messages. I have
just set up a new account and, again, the test comes up with
"congratulations" etc suggesting all is OK but I can only send emails from
Outlook but not receive. I have Zonelabs and Norton - is that helpful to know?

Jocelyn, On checking further, Going Tools-Send/Receive settings -
Send/Receive Groups - All Accounts, in Folder Options there is Personal
Folders and Inbox with a check in the box but nothing for Sent. Is that
significant?

You could try disabling Norton's e-mail scanner if it's running...you
shouldn't need it anyway. To answer your question about the Sent box in All
Accounts, no, that is not significant in this instance.

When I mentioned creating a new mail profile, I meant going to Control Panel
| Mail | Show Profiles and creating a new profile there, then telling Outlook
to use that one. You would have to reenter your e-mail account settings and
some other ones as well, but it might solve your problem. In case it
doesn't, don't delete the old profile right away.

Hi, Have done what you say. Now , when I run the test, I get an error message
"Log on to incoming mail server (POP3). The specified server was found but
there was no response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL
information is correct."
I checked the advanced settings and there are ports 110 and 25 and the SSL
boxes are unchecked.. Are we any nearer?

Does that error message have an error code associated with it?

No, there was no error message. Last night I opened a new account as you said
to but I was plagued with Enter Network Password every minute. In the end I
cleared both accounts and started again. On the first account, it was as
before with Test Account Settings all OK but still no email coming in. I
started to open a second account but gave up when the Enter Network Password
message started to re-appear.

I have sorted this. I will explain how in case it helps you with other
enquiries in future. My ISP is Orange. When I first signed up it was
Freeserve and the email address they supplied was
(e-mail address removed). They also offered other email addresses and I
selected (e-mail address removed) and I have used this for years. I have been able to
link fully to Outlook by going back to the first email address supplied by
Freeserve. As this is only to be used for a new business venture I am happy
to use it solely for this purpose and will continue to use my prefered email
address for personal stuff.
I emailed Orange to query why I couldn't connect my prefered email address
and they replied to say that any email address @fsmail.net cannot be
connected to Outlook or Outlook Express. It doesn't explain why I was getting
Congratulations on the Outlook tests but I no longer care, life's too short
and it's time to move on. I hope this helps you.
