Outlook 2003: How to read/delete Hotmail in Offline mode?

I've just started using the release version of Outlook 2003 and if I am in
offline line mode I can't delete hotmail emails. I get the error message:
"The connection to the server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or
connected to complete this action."

In Outlook XP even in offline mode I could use the option "File->Connect to
Hotmail" and then I was able to delete emails normally. I can't find
the "File->Connect to Hotmail" option in Outlook 2003. Is it somewhere else?

I need to use Outlook in offline mode because I have one exchange account
and I am not always connected to my office.

Thanks!

Marcelo

As Hotmail is a HTTP account you can't delete messages off-line. The button
to connect to Hotmail is still there. Make sure that you have selected the
Hotmail folder and then press File-> Connect to Hotmail.

Sorry, I see what you mean. When Outlook is placed in Offline mode there is
no way to connect to Hotmail. In a way it is correct ofcourse but makes your
situation impossible. You can also create an extra profile with the Hotmail
account configured. Is that an option?

Thanks Roady.

I guess I can leave with two profiles now. I just wonder why they would
remove such an useful functionality like the "File->Connect to Hotmail".

You're welcome! :-)

Actually the option is still there as long as you are On-line. When you are
Off-line connecting to Hotmail which is an on-line service doesn't sound to
make a lot of sence but it actually does in your case. Do you get lots of
errors when you place your Outlook 2003 in On-line mode when Exchange isn't
available to you?
