The Envelope Icon for new email arrival suddenly stopped working despite that optioned checked in the advance email options in Tools/Options. Look up MS Office Assistance Web Page and that option is not even listed. Is it no longer available.

If you're using Windows XP, the envelope might be hidden by the system tray.
Click the small arrow next to the system tray. If it expands and you can see
the envelope, it's just hidden. To control the hiding of the envelope, right
click the taskbar and choose Properties. On the Taskbar tab, click the
Customize button on the bottom to control when each icon is shown. Choose
Always Shown for the new mail envelope icon.

you are right.... but not 100%.... I have a lot of rules in my outlook 2003, and if i get new mail that end in a subfolder of the standard Inbox, i do not get any notifikation at all.... In Outlook 2000 i got the little envelope icon beside the clock, but not in Outlook 2003.... and i miss it.... really... I have so many subfolders that i have to scroll, just to see if i got new mail... and rigth now, i do it every 10 min. and that anoying..

use the unread mail search folder - if you didn't remove it it's in the Mail
Favorites.

In OL 2003, if a rule moves a new message from the Inbox to another folder,
the rule must include the mail notification, such as "play a sound" or "show
the Desktop Alert". By default, OL 2003 only notifies you for messages that
remain in Inbox.
