Outlook 2003 email Inbox formatting

I'm trying to set up the format of my inbox so that flag status is one of the columns on the far left. I've followed the instructions under "help" and tried every variation of re-formatting I can find, but no dice. I can get "flag status" to the top of the listing "display in this order" but it doesn't show up on the screen. Anyone else tried to do something like this?
 
The Flag Status field is static. However you can add the classic Folluw Up
Flag field to your columns which you can place anywhere you want.
