I upgraded Office XP to 2003 and Outlook hangs when I try to run it. I tried uninstalling and re-installing. I tried the detect and repair and nothing works. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Pat

1) try running scanpst.exe on your Personal Folder

2) try renaming outcmd.dat to .old and restart Outlook. All the Toolbars
will reset then. This is quite a common problem with Outlook . The default
location for this file is:
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

3) try recreating the profile in Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles

4) try running Outlook with the /safe switch from your Start-> Run window
(if it works continue with 5)

5) try disabling individual add-ons in Tools-> Options-> tab Other-> button
Advanced E-mail Options... (make sure they are all compatible with Outlook
2003)

I've tried each one of these items with the exception of number 5 below with
no success. Outlook hangs when I try to run in Safe Mode. When I do the End
Process in the Task Manager, it lists 2 instances of Outlook...not
responding. Any other ideas?

TIA,
Pat

I had an add-in that I forgot about. It's called PDF Converter. Once
uninstalled it, Outlook loaded just fine. Thanks.

You're welcome! Good to hear you've got it solved! :-)
