I recdntly upgraded my hard drive and in the process the Outlook.pst folder
was not copied with the other files and I had to move it manually. I am using
Outlook 2003, version 11 but the .pst file was still a 98-2002 file version.
Therefore I create a new Personal File type folder and imported all the old
date from the old outlook.pst file. Since then I see all my old e-mails in
all the different folders, I can send e-mails from 3 different accounts but I
cannot receive any e-mails from 3 differnt web servers. With send/receive the
Virus S/w indicated scanning some incoming e-mail but it did not show up in
ANY folder. I went thruogh all account settings with test e-mail which was
properly sent and I could read it on the web e-mail but with send/receive it
was deleted from the web mail but didn't show up anywhere. In order not to
loose more e-mails I opted to leave a copy of the e-mail on the server. I
uninstalled the virus scan SW, no difference, I made a new profile with
reinstalling all the e-mail accounts, no difference. When I fell back to
Outlook Express with identical setting as in Outlook, I could get all my
e-mails downloaded into Outlook Express. When I tried Detect/Repair it
wouldn't accept my CD, therefore that is out . Can I do anything else?

dear,

simply make sure you exported all your emails, then import it back into
outlook express, after that export them all from outlook express into
MS outlook by selecting option in express??? try it and see

Thank you very much, your advice helped and fixed the problem. What kind of
black magic did you learn? It reminded me at the case where a new prototype
airplane was constantly falling out of the sky because the wings broke off.
One night when the engineers where desperate for any solution the cleaning
women overheard their problem and told them to perforate the wings at the
location where they broke off. Desperate and with nothing to loose the
engineers did it and it worked. Later they asked the cleaning women how she
kew so much about airplane design and she responded " have you ever seen
toilet paper which tears along the perforation?"
Again, thanks a lot for your advice

The first thing to do is to disable scanning mail with your AV program.
It's not necessary and can lead to Outlook problems.
