Hello,

At our company, we have 4 Outlook 2003 users (I being one of them) who are
experiencing the same issue: Outlook doesn't close when you click the X in
the upper right or go to File - Exit. The only way we've been able to get
it to close is by ending the Outlook.exe task.

I've read and tried the following:

1. Detect and Repair - no luck.
2. Verify that WinFax is not installed - not installed.

It seems to have started after I recently ran OfficeUpdate, yet we've even
tried a reinstall and the problem persists.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Brian

Do you have a PDA? Do you sync it with Outlook?

FYI - I also disabled all of my Add-ins from the Add-in Manager per some
earlier posts... still no luck.

Thanks in advance!

Patricia - No PDA or sync software. We have also tried disabling our
non-integrated desktop AV. No luck.

We're stumped! :-)

Thanks.

Are you using Word as your email editor? Try disabling that and see if it
fixes the problem. If so, there are some things you can try to fix that
problem.

Brian, I am having the same problem with an XP machine
here at work. I've tried all the things you mentioned with
no success. Have you tried running repair detect in safe
mode?

Does your PC have an event viewer? That might show you
some info. I also suspect that it was a windows update
that left an entry in the registry that outlook can't
close.

If I get this fixed I will post info.

Patricia,

I disabled Use Word for both HTML and Rich Text (both options), closed
Outlook.... same issue. I verified that Word was not running as a separate
process as well.

The same thing happens to me on 3 different machines with Outlook 2000. I
done everything suggested in the prior messages to this thread or never had
some of items and it still will not close at times.

I also think it was an update that changed something because it wasn't there
initially with the XP machines.
