Outlook 2003 contacts

I have just purchased a new PC with Windows XP pro and Outlook 2003. I have
tried to export my .pst files from Outlook 2000 to my new config but all my
Contact sub-folders are missing and so are my distribution list (but the
headers are still there - there's just no addresses in there). I have read
other questions posted and seen your advice about copying rather that
exporting. My problem is that I have a number of .pst files, both in the
folder application data\microsoft\outlook and one in local
setting\application data\microsoft\outlook. Which one is the real one?
 
If you still have the old PC running and can get into Outlook 2000, right
click the root folder of your Personal Folders and click Properties, then
Advanced -- you'll see the file path there in the Filename box. Once you
know where the file is, copy it to the new computer, make sure it's not
marked read-only, and open it in Outlook via File | Open | Outlook Data
File. You can either make the old file the default, or if you want to take
advantage of Outlook 2003's new Unicode .PST format, you can copy the data
from your old file to the new one Outlook 2003 created when you installed
it. User created folders can be dragged and dropped as a whole, but for
default folders like the Inbox, you will need to switch to an unfiltered
table view of the folder such as By Category, select all the items using
CTRL+A, then drag and drop the items as a group to the new folder. If you
right-click and drag, you will get a copy option; otherwise the items will
be moved.

Thanks very much that seems to have worked and all my data is intact except
that I now have two! Personal Folders showing, both of which are identical.
If I click on either one and select Properties/Advanced I get the dialogue
box - The Operation failed - the object could not be found. I can live with
it but any ideas?
 
Can you close the non-default file by right clicking its root folder and
selecting Close?
