In my contacts I have created a group of contacts by importing them from Excel.
If I do nothing else and create new mail message and select that contact list in the Select Names dialog box all of my contact appear in the available list. Everything seems fine.
Ok... now the weird stuff
The moment I view that contact list (using the contact tab) any contact I touch will no longer appear in the Select Names dialog box. I don't even have to open it... all I have to do is click it once.
The group still exists... I can still select the group in the dialog box... but there will be one less contact in the list. As soon as I click or open another contact, it will disappear too.
I can duplicate this consistently.
So...through some trial and error this is what I have figured out so far.. If I open the contact and EDIT the "Full Name" the contact will reappear in the Select Names dialog box. All I have to do is change 1 character... (at first I thought it might be an issue with special characters), but I can change any character and the contact appears to be right as rain again.
So... I have two work arounds... 1) don't open the contact list or 2) edit every contact.
I wont bore you with more details, but because of business processes both of these work arounds are rather inconvenient.
So now I've come to the conclusion there is something in the import process that is responsible for this. Has anyone seen something similar? And can you suggest any possible solutions or possible causes I can investigate?
Thanks!!
