I have three Outlook 2003 mail accounts and they are named lik
"OutlookHotmail-00000003.pst", "OutlookHotmail (1)-00000004.pst"
"OutlookHotmail (1)-00000004.pst". Is there any option to rename the
of my own so that I can identify which .pst is for which accoun
without going to mail options?

Another thing, sometime the OS needs to be reinstalled by formattin
the drive due to OS corruption. The default .pst location i
C:\Documents and Settings\Sourabh.BABCOCK-05\Local Settings\Applicatio
Data\Microsoft\Outlook. Is there anyway to change this location of m
own desire like in drive D: so that if I format c: for fresh O
installation, my data files remain as it is? It is someting lik
changing the save directory in OE6.

Thanks and Regards

-Make sure Outlook is closed.
-Change the location and pst-file names as desired.
-Go to Control Panel-> Mail-> button Data File's and click the pst-files
there and press Settings (I could be off in naming as I am not on a US-EN
Outlook at the moment). You'll then be prompted for the location of the
pst-file.
-Browse to the location and when you've set them all you can start Outlook.

I'm sorry to say this absolutely does not work. I spent 4 hours tonight trying to change the names of my pst files. I finally ran across your instructions above. I followed them verbatim and I still can't get this to work. I even tried probably half a dozen variations of your instructions to no avail. The file name does appear to change from the perspective of the Mail app in the control panel, but when I launch outlook and then select my folder with the path to the new pst, I always get an error indicating the file may be corrupt. When I switch the name back to the original name, it works just fine again. I've even simply tried to change the name of the original file created by outlook, and then point the pst file to it as described above. Still doesn't work. On many attempts I even completely wiped out my profile and started over from scratch, recreating a new profile, new imap mail accounts, etc.

This has become extremely frustrating, and I'm beginning to think it's impossible. This just shouldn't be that difficult. I'm using Outlook 2003 SP3. I know I've done this successfully in the past, but it's been several years and I was using an earlier version of Outlook, and all my accounts were pop accounts, not imap like I'm using now. I'd be surprised if that were the problem though.
