Whenever I try and start Outlook to forward or reply to an
email, it hangs up with the small box saying "starting
word as email editor". I have to go to the task manager
to stop it. Later, when I go to turn off the machine, it
won't let me because it says word is still running, even
though it isn't (it has been turned off and the task
manager is empty) Also get an error message saying it
cannot locate a file called "tfswctrl.exe"

This is a new error that started a few days ago. I
haven't changed anything or added anything but am getting
a lot of hits from the Netsky virus.

Thanks

Try disabling all startup items to see if Word as your email editor stops
hanging.

1. Click Start -> Run

2. Type msconfig and click OK.

3. Unselect Load Startup Items.

4. Restart.

According to my knowledge, tfswctrl.exe is a HP application: DLA (for CD
Recording). You can contact HP directly to obtain a possible update.

http://www.hp.com

In the meantime, we can disable it from the Startup list:

1. Click Start-> Run.

2. Type msconfig and click OK.

3. Click the Startup tab and uncheck tfswctrl.exe.
