I used to be able to do this in Outlook 2000. The string will be in either
the subject or text body...or both. For example: looking for an email
message about a specific invoice number 12345. Now, it does not find the
number even when I know it's there....and can find it by hunting on my own.
Thanks for any help you can offer~

Outlook has multiple-personalities when it comes to the "Find" function.

When you tap the "Find" button, a small bar opens directly below the button
bar; if you are typing your "12345" into that box, you may want to click the
"Options" item at the right-hand end of the Find bar and ensure that "Search
All Text in Each Message" has a checkmark next to it.

You could also click the "Options" item and choose "Advanced Find" instead.
That will open a new Find window with more options than "you can shake a
stick at" as our grandparents used to say. :)
