Outlook 2003 - Cached Exchange Mode issue

I am the administrator of a group of Exchange 5.5 servers (NT 4), but I am running server 2003 and Outlook 2003 on my workstation

In order to take advantage of the anti-spam features of Outlook 2003, I have configured my profile to enable “Use Cached Exchange Modeâ€. I notice a bad side-effect from this configuration - when I use the Exchange administration tool to create new user accounts, it takes until the next day for the new users to “show up†in my copy of Outlook, and it also requires that I manually execute the “Tools – Send/Receive – Download Address Book†option. I have verified that the user accounts do show up for everyone at my company not using the “Cached Exchange†mode, but not until the next day for everyone using the “Cached Exchange†mode

I did find a Microsoft KB article that describes this issue, but no resolution to the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this issue (short of disabling the Cached Exchange†mode)

Thanks for your assistance in advance

Rich

This is the answer I received when I ask a similar question (I asked for
Exchange 2000):

Start of Paste:
You can get incremental more frequently on the client by:

a. change the OAB diff generation interval on the server, or make sure that
oab generation has run (this is always the first step :-)
b. change the OAB sync interval in Outlook by creating a send-receive group
that syncs the OAB at the interval specified on the server or do a manual
download from Tools->Send/Recieve->Download address book.

OAB generation can take 1-2 Hrs or more in large organizations so there may
be practical limitations on how frequently you can generate diffs. Having
the client do downloads at a higher frequency may affect the normal client
usage (Outlook makes a local disk copy of the hundreds of MB of oab data
before applying changes to them). So I would not recommend going for this
solution.

Can you tell me how to set the OAB diff generation interval on the server?

Thanks...

Hi Richard,
not for Exchange 5.5 I am afraid as I haven't access to one (I know how in
Exchange 200 if this helps)

Can anyone else tell me if there is a function in Exchange 5.5 to configure
the OAB diff generation interval (assuming there is one)?
