When you create a rule how do you block a domain because I don't see the
domain while creating a rule.

thanks

You can use a rule by employing the "with specific words in the sender's
address" condition and specifying the domain (xyz.com, for example) as the
specific words.

When I have a message in my inbox and I know it's spam, I create a rule but
it doesn't show the domain by default, is there a way to easily locate the
domain of the offending email so that it can be incorporated in the rule?

thanksk

Right-click, choose Options , and examine the headers or open the message,
click View>Options, and examine the headers, or open the message,
right-click the sender, and choose Properties.

Ok, cool, but when I click "tools=>rules and alerts=>new rules=>start from
a blank rule" and I want to type in a domain name, it pulls up my contact
list and I'm not able to type in a domain name without creating a contact
first.

Type in a domain name where? Use the "with specific words in the sender's
address" condition and use the ddomain name as the specific words.

Rules and Alerts>New Rule>Start with a blank rule>Check messages when they
arrive. Now pick the condition I named.

Thanks, now I see it, I wasn't scrolling all the way down. DOH!!!

If their domain is like abc.xyz.hello.com if I just put "hello" in the field
will that cover this domain?

thanks

Then rules work like wildcards?

Like substrings. If a rule looks for, for example, "corn", it wil match on
that and on "popcorn" and "cornucopia" as well. So, trying to match a
domain abc.xyz.hello.com by using "hello" will also match a domain of
"chello.com" or "chello.net"
