I need to archive all of my e-mails and save them for some time
How do I archive them so that I can integrate them in Outlook at a later time and regain the dates I received them

NB: Would it be possible to put a ppassword to the backup?

/Andreas

Close outlook and simply copy the .pst file and store it where you wish.

You may want to put a password on the .pst file once you have restored your
backup and do not forget it.

Where do I find that .pdt file and just how am I supposed to protect it?
Eg. I need a specific explanation on how to reintegrate it to Outlook

Thanks for your reply thoug

Andreas:

Data in Outlook is generally stored in one of two places:

* Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox (assuming you use Exchange server)
* Local PST file

Assuming that your mail is stored in a PST file, you could do the following:

1. Backup the existing PST file on some type of media - such as a CD or ZIP
disk
2. Create a new PST, & transfer the "older" mail that you want to store long
term by drag & drop technique.

To find out where your PST file is, do the following:

1. Right-click on your top-level mailbox
2. Choose "Properties"
3. Choose "Advanced"
4. Look for the "Filename" field - this includes the path
