We have Outlook 2003 on our computers. Withing the last two months, I've had
three machines where the Outlook Address Book crashed. The OAB was of course
linked to the default Contacts Folder. We are using Microsoft Exchange.
The Contacts folder itself is accessible and editable; however, as soon as
we try to access the Contacts through the Address Book, Outlook crashes.
I've removed all contacts from the folder and started fresh. Even with and
empty contacts folder, the Address book still crashes Outlook.
I know that it's not an Exchange issue, because, I can access the Exchange
Account on another workstation, and the Address Book works fine.
Anyway, an error does show up in the event log and it's listed below.-
"Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.6565.0, stamp 42cacc7d,
faulting module user32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2622"
We've uninstalled Office and reinstalled Office with the latest service
packs. We've also removed every entry in the registry which references
Outlook, and the problem won't go away. We've removed profiles and recreated
profiles without success. I've also logged on with an admin User profile,
and I tried to access the Exchange Account and it still fails on the same
machine.
We are running Symantec 10.1 Anti-Virus Corporate Edition, and the machine
scans clean.
In order to resolve the issue on the previous two workstations, we've had to
blow away the Operating System and reinstall. At this point, I'm looking
for solutions that will help me to avoid having to reload the OS (Windows XP
SP2).
I'm wondering if the Address Book dlls aren't getting uninstalled or if they
are actually OS dlls.
Any and all suggestions would be most appreciative. Thanks
