Outlook 2002 wants me to spend more $

Greetings,

I own Office 2000, which included Outlook 2000 as part of
the installation. I also recently purchased a PocketPC.
Included with the PocketPC was a CD that contained a more
recent version of Outlook (2002). The CD automatically
installed the newer version when I ran the installation
for the PocketPC PDA.

Here comes the problem... Now, when I try to do a mail
merge, Outlook says that I must buy a newer version of
Word. This can't be right, can it? I get a "free"
upgrade for Outlook when I buy their PDA operating
system, and at the same time I am forced to replace
another piece of software that I am more than happy with
right now?

Mail merge only works when Word and Outlook are the same version. Either
revert back to Outlook 2000 or upgrade to Word 2002.

That is correct. Versions of Outlook & Word must match to be able to
work together.
