Outlook 2002 "unable to start processing services" error

Hello all. Hope someone can help me with this...
Need to copy Outlook 2002 files from laptop to new computer which had MS
Works installed. I installed MS Office XP on new computer and have been
trying to get into Outlook. (I uninstalled MS Works via "add/remove
programs" first although I see that there are still Works files.) When I try
to open Outlook, I get "Unable to start processing services. Could not open
the item. Try again." If I click OK past that error, it takes me to Outlook
and I try to open files that I have copied from my laptop but get "access
denied" errors. Also, I don't use Outlook mail as I use aol for that.
Any help would be appreciated.
 
Did you activate the new Office installation? Did you remove it from the
previous computer? Was it a retail version that is permitted to be installed
on a 1 laptop and 1 desktop? Or is it an OEM copy that cannot be moved to
another computer? Lastly, did you install Office to a different directory?
Works Suite installs Word to the default MS Office folder and corrupts an
Office installation. You need to install to a folder named 'MS OfficeXP' or
something like that to keep the installations separate. If you remove Works,
there are other parts of Works Suite that need to be uninstalled
separately--like Word.

I finally got into Outlook and can see my data so I think I am ok with that
issue (so far anyway). I didn't have the profile set up correctly for one
thing. I did not know about the Works vs Office folders so I am trying to
fix that. Since I already have Office XP installed, can I just move those
files to a new folder (MS Office XP) or would I have to reinstall? Do those
files affect other programs? You say that there are other Works parts that
need to be uninstalled. Can you be more specific or point me in the right
direction to get more info? Is there more to remove other than the Works
folders/files? Do you know if I can just delete those files without causing
any other probs? Whatever additional feedback you can provide would be
greatly appreciated.
