I have read Diane Poremsky's post on this subject. The problem persists even
though I have none of the programs she references. I do have ZoneLabs
Security Suite and Webroot antispyware. but closing those does not solve the
problem.
The problem: If I open Outlook and just read messages and then close Outlook
the process ends. If I open Outlook and send/receive, closing Outlook does
not end the process and over time repeated use of Outlook results in multiple
copies of the Outlook process remaining open.
