Outlook 2002 process does not close even w/o antivirus, antispam

I have read Diane Poremsky's post on this subject. The problem persists even
though I have none of the programs she references. I do have ZoneLabs
Security Suite and Webroot antispyware. but closing those does not solve the
problem.

The problem: If I open Outlook and just read messages and then close Outlook
the process ends. If I open Outlook and send/receive, closing Outlook does
not end the process and over time repeated use of Outlook results in multiple
copies of the Outlook process remaining open.

Start Outlook in safe mode and see if it happens then. If not, you know you
have an add-in causing the problem. Detective work will be required at that
point.

Good thought, but it responded the same in safe mode and did not close after
send/receive. What else might it be?
