If you close your network connection but forget to close Outlook AND Outlook
then tries to get new mail, Outlook keeps putting up its "Enter Network
Password" prompt endlessly. It refreshes this prompt every 1-2 seconds, so it
is very difficult to cancel Outlook, which is the only way to stop this prompt.
There are only two ways to stop this short of a reboot. One is to C-A-D and try
to get to click on the Task Manager and then End Task buttons between refreshes
of the password prompt window. The other is to try to reestablish the net
connection in between the prompts.

Anyone know if there is a registry parm that will control how fast Outlook puts
up that prompt?

I would look into using the Offline mode. Check HELP for 'offline' and
look under the File -- Work Offline.

But that doesn't solve the problem and requires me to work differently. I have
a DSL connection and Outlook is open 24x7.
