First Question: Can Office XP Small Business, and more specifically, Outlook
2002 be used under WinXP?

Second Question: If yes, how do I import from Outlook Express into Outlook
2002? I can see no option to import any files on the Outlook toolbars, not
only that, it seems to behave more like Explorer.

I think there is a problem...as I stated, Outlook seems to act like explorer...

When I start "outlook", under file, I have the following options (I should
also make note that when the program starts, I get a message that the default
folders can be found, and if I should use the default system folders instead,
and I have to click yes to continue)

New
System Information
Folder
Copy Disk
Open As Portable Media Device
Scan with AVG
Format
Page Setup

Outlook 2002 runs just fine under Windows XP

You need to have both Outlook and Outlook Express installed and functional
on the machine used to perform the Import/Export function. From there, you
can use either 'File|Import and Export|Import Mail and Addresses|Outlook
Express'' in Outlook 2002 or 'FIle|Export|Messages' and 'File|Export|Address
Book' from Outlook Express. I've always had better luck exporting from OE
than I've had importing with Outlook.

This was a new install of the software...it did give ask me to upgrade or
move or merge information from OE...should it have>

Also, could the messages on Outlook startup mentioned above, about not
finding the default files have something to do with not getting the import
option?

Again...thanks in advance

Well I guess I just threw my money away...perhaps I should have just tried
Open Office instead...

Absoluty, you need a profile. 'Control Panel|Mail|Show Profiles|Add'

what does having a profile have to do with getting an answer to a
question?...did I miss some "required" information?...

I'm sorry...after rereading the last post I understood it more...

I'll post back after trying that...

Sorry...= (

Ok...I'm sorry again Hal...

I set up my profiles...I had 3 accounts in OE...and I got 3 profiles set up
in Outlook...I imported the email from my main account using
File|Import...but I have another issue...

When I tried to import the mail for the other profiles/users, it keeps
importing from the main name...

Also, is there no way to switch between identities in Outlook like in
OE?...or must you actually exit out and restart, then choose the profile you
want?

Again...thanks again...

Dave

Unfortunately, you do have to quit and restart Outlook to change Profiles.
The way I've done it is to start a particular Identity in OE, start Outlook
with the Profile that corresponds to that Identity, then use OE to perform
the export. When finished, change Identities in OE, restart Outlook with
the correct Profile to match the new identity, and repeat the process.
