I'm at a loss with this one. There are 4 computers at my location. All of
them are running XP Professional and Office XP Professional with Frontpage.
All the latest updates and service packs (except XP SP2) have been applied
to all of the installations. All of the installations use internet only
email setup (no MS Exchange) and all of the installations have at least one
hotmail account setup.
The problem is that on two of the computers, when ever a hotmail folder is
accessed, it displays the items in Outlook but also opens up an instance of
Internet Explorer that displays the same items. If I switch to another
folder under that hotmail account, the display in Outlook changes properly
but another instance of IE opens showing the items in the newly selected
folder. The url in the address bar of the IE instances are
"c:\temp\oft343.htm.tmp" and the name of the file changes each time but it
is always in the temp folder.
On the other two computers, accessing an Hotmail folder opens it only in
Outlook.
This only happens with hotmail accounts. Regular POP3 accounts work fine on
all computers and do not have an instance of IE opening.
I could understand it happening on all the computers, but why just two of
them when the configurations are so similar? Also, I need a way of stopping
the instance of IE from opening. Any ideas?
Thanks
