Can anyone tell me how to create a mail rule in Outlook 2002 which will
leave mail for one individual on the server, please? Outlook Express has a
built in rule for "leave on the server" but I cannot find a way to do it in
Outlook 2002. I am not up to writing a custom rule to do it (unless anyone
can tell me how in very simple terms) and without a built in one I'm stuck
with using OE. I'd like to use Outlook for my mail because it will process
rules in strict order, whilst OE seems to do them in any order it likes.

You can do this on your account properties. Choose More Settings... and go
to the Advanced tab.

Hmmm, must have missed that - thanks, I'll give that a try.

A P.S. to the last message - The method you suggest only allows a copy of
ALL mail to be left on the server. What I am trying to do is download all
mail to my domain EXCEPT for one particular user, who picks up their own
mail separately and from another computer on my LAN. I can do this with OE
by a mail rule that says "if the TO: line contains (e-mail address removed)"
then "leave it on the server". I cannot do it from Outlook 2002 because
whilst I can select mail with a rule that says "where the TO: line contains
john.doe etc." there is no built in rule to say "leave it on the server".
Other than getting someone to write me a custom rule for this, I can't see
how to do it. I can't route mail for one user to another computer as you
used to be able to do with older Outlook versions using Exchange as, as far
as I can see, this can now only be done by a system running Msoft Exchange
Server separately.

I am having the exact same problem and have been trying to figure out how to change it for months now. Did you have any luck? In Outlook Express I could use the "Do not download from server" rule. In Outlook 2000 I can't even make a new rule... Very frustrating...
