Hi.
I'm running an Windows 2003 SBS evaluation copy build 3790 with an
integrated Exchange 2003.
I have two ways to access the Exchange. Either through OWA or through
my Windows XP workstation running Outlook 2002 SP2.

I got approx. 0.5 sec response time accessing my mailboxes through the
OWA interface.

However, accessing the same mailboxes from my Outlook 2002 / XP client
takes 15 to 20 secs. Everything else runs smooth and fast on my XP
computer.
I can temporarily improve the accesstime to 2 to 3 secs by rebooting
the server. It then take approximate 24 hours and we are "back to
normal" i.e. 15 to 20 secs responsetime

Times are measured from I select a "subject" to the message appear in
the preview pane.

Does anybody have an idea about whats going on here?
I really need help to fix this problem!

Wow!
Thanks. It did the trick. I now have the same fine performance within
the Outlook client as running the OWA client.

I still dont understand WHY it helped... Could you please explain?

Thanks again! /Hakan

not really since i don't know how instant messenger integration is designed.
i just know that after a short period of time that outlook performance just
goes south with this feature on.

Due to the Swen virus, all e-mails sent to this account will be deleted
w/out reading.

Try disabling instant messenger integration under Tools | Options | Other.

Outlook tries to find out if the contact that sent the email is online
with Messenger. So when you select each email it tries to connect to
Messenger and if it isn't configured properly then this is what causes the
delays.
