hello all,

i'm using MS exchange as my mail server , and MS outlook 2002 as my email
client , i would like to share contacts with no of users ,that is a
group of users can edit , add and delete the master contacts list , and
that group of users can use that contacts list for reguller address book .

any body got brief document on this or URL ,, i search in google but
i'm able to find the solution for outlook 98 or outlook 2003, noy for
outlook 2002 .....

pls help me

Create a new folder to hold contacts in the Public Folders area -- File |
New | Folder. Then right-click that folder's Properties tab to set
permissions and see the check box that makes it part of the Outlook address
booik.

thanks for reply ,,, but i want to share the contacts with other pc (
outlook)
i already set the permission on my contacts folder .. but how can i get
that folder visible in other pc ( Outlook) ?????

The other user should use the File | Open | Other User's Folder command.

A shared mailbox folder, however, is not as good a solution as a public
folder. It can't be taken offline and it's somewhat difficult to make it
available in the Outlook Address book.

addressbook ,
or any other method where i can share the contacts list and use it with
outlook address book?????

The process of adding another user's Contacts folder to your own address
book display is somewhat involved. You will need to be able to create -- at
least temporarily -- an Outlook profile that opens another user's mailbox as
the primary mailbox. Proceed with these steps while logged in under your own
Windows account, not the other user's:

1. Create an Outlook profile that connects directly to the other user's
mailbox, not your own, and start Outlook with that profile.

2. On the Properties dialog for the other user's Contacts folder, make sure
that it's set to display in the Outlook Address Book and give it a display
name other than contacts, such as Joe's Contacts.

3. Close Outlook.

4. In Control Panel | Mail, edit the *same profile* (i.e. the one from Step
1) to change the mailbox from the other user's to your own.

5. Still working with the same profile, on the Advanced tab of the Exchange
Server service, add the other user's mailbox as a secondary mailbox.

6. Restart Outlook, and you should see the Joe's Contacts in your Outlook
Address Book as well as your own Contacts folder.

Sue, I've read this process on several threads, and I can't get it work
for OL2002 (Exchange 5.5). I can follow you up to step 5, but then
when I restart Outlook, if I use my original profile I get my contacts
in the address book, and if I use the new modified profile I get my
inbox with the other user's contacts in the address book, but in
neither case do I get both sets of contacts (yes they have different
names). Is it possible for Outlook 2002? I found this article
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=241094 which explains pretty much
what you said, but only refers to OL2000. I can't find anything
specifically for OL2002.

With grateful thanks for any further explanation you can give.

Cory

The process is the same for every version. You need to work with **only one
profile**, not two. Summary:

1) Create profile that logs onto other mailbox.
2) Set distinctive address book name for contacts folder.
3) Shut down Outlook.
4) Modify ***the same profile as in #1*** to now point to your own mailbox.
5) Modify that same profile to add the other mailbox as a secondary mailbox.
6) Start Outlook

If you don't see your own contacts after Step 6, check the properties of
that Contacts folder.
