Just recently installed Outlook 2002 and transfered all
contacts from Outlook 97 to it. The new program was
installed on a new Dell desktop 4600C. I have several
sub-contact folders within the folder. The contacts and
sub-folders show up on the folder list but when I attempt
to send an e-mail the contact list nor its sub-folders
appear. I receve a message stating that "The address
book could not be displayed. The Contacts folder
associated with this list could not be opened; it may
have been moved or deleted or you do not have
permission. For information on how to remove this
folder..." Well, I don't want to remove it, I want it to
appear when I click the address book icon on the Outlook
tool bar so that I can pick and choose the names that I
want to sent e-mails to. Any help would be appreciated.
I attempted to use the help function on Outlook but it
was no help.

Can't fix that. You have to use the horizontal scroll bar to distinguish one
address type from another.

Thanks...had to delete the file and reinstall. Then had
to set-up the sub-folders to be recognized as an e-mail
address book.

Still have problem when I click on the address book icon
on the e-mail form as it shows names only...not the e-
mail address. This would be good if the record only had
e-mails however it also has fax numbers. So, if a file
has both an e-mail and fax associated with it, the name
appears twice but it does not show the e-mail address or
fax number as Outlook 97 did.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

How did you "transfer" these Contacts?
It is not unusual for the Outlook Address Book to "lose track" of the
connection to its Contacts Folder when you move or import your PST or update
your Outlook version or OS. Use the following steps to reset the connection,
depending on your Outlook version. Note that in some instances you may
actually have to remove the Outlook Address Book completely from your
Profile, close Outlook, and then re-add it before you can get it to work.

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book. If it is not listed, back up one step
and add it. If it is, then click on Change. to make sure the Contacts
folder(s) you want to display are listed. You may need to enable the
Contacts Folder as an e-mail address book by R clicking the Folder >
Properties and check the "Show this folder as an E-mail address book" box.
Make sure you restart Outlook after making these changes.

Have you right clicked on the folder that is not visible,
then go to properties, then go to outlook address bar tab,
then check the box that says "show this folder as an e-
mail address book"?
