We are using SendMail and Outlook 2002. We get timeouts
all the time.
The OL2002 problems are multifold and include frequent
(more than once a day) dialogue boxes indicating a timeout
has occurred, less frequent dialogues indicating that OL
has lost contact with the server and has gone into offline
mode (from which it will not go back online) and crashes
while synchronizing large mail boxes.

Has anyone seen this and if so how do you solve this
problem?

Thank you.

Where does Outlook sit relative to the sendmail box? There are some timing
problems in a Windows component that Outlook uses that can cause timeouts on
a *very* fast network (usually happens when running on the same machine).
Also, do you have any anti-virus/anti-spam software that scans
incoming/outgoing messages? If so, it may be the problem. The crashes are
probably unrelated to these issues - do you have more information on those?

Jeff, thank you for the info. I don't have any more
information. All I know is Outlook will hang for any user
who has an mailbox over 1gig. This is IMAP too, we are
not running POP3. And yes, we do have a fast network,
100mb to every workstation and T1 from building to
building.

And yes, we do have Norton running on the local machine
and I would assume our Firewall has a filter on it as well.

Do you have any other hints/tips?

Thanks,
Matt
