Outlook 2002 and send/receive on starting program

When I start Outlook 2002 it does NOT check for email.

I have to manually click send/receive after starting up the program.

How do I get it to check at the time of start-up of the program?

Note that I have Office XP 2002 (with Service pack 2) -- this includes
Outlook 2002 (service pack 2).

Also, under "mail setup", I have checked the box for "send immediately when
connected".

My mail accounts are included in the group that is set to send/receive when
Outlook is either online or offline.

I am using DSL -- so Outlook is set to use my LAN settings.

What can I do?

Thanks.

Did you set an automatic polling interval? That should be all that's
required.

it has to do with you dial up settings:
under tools in explorer, never dial my connection ,allwys dial etc, or under my connection details, try this
for the lan settings you may need to make a different connection

A hah. That did it. I purposely did not have any scheduled checking
interval. Since this is home use (not a business), I just open Outlook and
then close it when done.

So I put it on check for mail every 30 minutes and now it works at start-up
to send/receive.

Funny though, there is nothing that states that the polling interval needs
to be on for the send/receive to work when opening Outlook. Perhaps the
instructions should be more clear. Or perhaps, like Outlook Express, there
should be something that is checked explicitly just for that function --
i.e, a check box for send/receive when starting Outlook.

You were the only one that got this right though. Nice job.

Thanks,

Eric
