Hi all,

Need some help with this.

I had Outlook 2000 installed and all was fine and dandy.
Then I bought an iPaQ which came with Outlook 2002.

So, I installed it, activated it online and sure enough 2002 is quite nice
and seems crash free.

Then my Pentium 4 motherboard failed big-time. So while I waited for a new
one, I re-installed Win98SE and Outlook 2002 on the same PC (same everything
excepting the mobo) which is a Pentium 3/550 mobo.

All was well and everything worked ok, included the re-activation of Outlook
2002 (after it said that due to a significant configuration change it had to
be re-installed).

So, for about a week all was OK on the spare mobo, with the original other
parts.

Now, I have just replaced the P3 mobo with my new replacement P4 mobo and
then re-installed Win 98 and Outlook 2002.

But although Windows re-installed OK, Outlook won't - when it comes to
activating it online, it fails and brings up a message that it claims it has
been activated on a different PC and hence will now run in "reduced
functionality mode"..

Well, the only thing that was different was I changed to an old mobo, until
I could get a new mobo. Otherwise, I couldn't get any work done and my life
would be hell.

Any clues at how to re-gain the "full functionality" that I had before?
Is an uninstall required and then re-install it all again. Will the
re-activation still be useless, coz Microsoft have some record of the
changes?

Call the phone number listed on the screen when activation fails.

Had you saved activation, it might of reactivated, although I can't say for
sure since it was a mobo change.

Hi Diane,

Many thanks for your kind reply.

Firstly, there is no phone number on the screen (once activation fails). It
claims (when the activation does fail) to call the number, but there isn't
one. I do have the number for Microsoft in UK (0870 60 10 100) but I gave up
after about 15 minutes on hold listening to some loud "music" and no human
intervention. So, thought I'd try the NG's.

Not sure about "saving activation" - what do you mean?

rgds,

Thomas
