I use Outlook simply as an email program. I find that
since upgrading from 2000 to 2002, changing acct
properties (leaving messages on server, etc), setting
parameters, and most importanly sending messages, I'm
having many problems. For example, although I test my
acct setting to make sure it's configured properly with
my server, when I go to send mail, often an acct "fails".

Does anyone know how to convert BACK to 2000 without
losing all mail? (I DO have most of it in Outlook
Express, so I suppose I could reinstall the mail, but I
have lots more in Outlook...

Are there any advantages of Outlook 2002 for simply email
capabilities? Thanks..

I believe all you need to do is take your personal folders file it is a file with a pst extension usually located in C:\Documents and Settings\%profile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook and save it somewhere say in My Documents. You may need to have show all system and hidden file and folders to see the Local Settings folder. Do this in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder options... | View and in the List box below check and uncheck as the case may be to enable the showing of all that you can.

Then uninstall Microsoft Outlook 2002 AND Word 2002. Then install Outlook 2000 and Word 2000. The inclusion of Word is necessary if you use Word as your e-mail editor. Then once you've done that make new settinngs to connect to your POP3 server. Once that is done and you are sure you are connecting and can receive a message then close Outlook, delete or move the default outlook.pst file that is put in the above same location and put the one you saved earlier in there. Then restart Outlook. You may get an error message that your personal files folder cannot be found. You will then be given the opportunity to find the file in the above location. You moved your saved pst back to that so you will pick that and open it. Likely have to insert your password.
