Outlook 2000 Security

In Outlook 2000 our users can open everyone else's inboxes by going to File
Open > Other User's Folder...

From a security point of view this is not ideal. Can anyone tell me how to
prevent this? I have tried restricting security using AD Users and Computers
as well as in Outlook Properties but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

By default, no one should be able to open another persons mailbox unless
rights have been granted by the end user or in Active Directory. (By
default, even domain admins are explicitly denied access to mailboxes under
Active Directory and require rights to be modified to get the old Exchange
5.5 feel back.) Based on your description, you might want to contact
Microsoft Product Support Services for help and setting the permissions back
to the default if you have made wild changes and didn't keep track of what
was changed.
 
In Outlook check and see that Anonimous and Standard won't have any
permissions on the folders itself. Rightclick on a folder-> Properties-> tab
Permissions. When this isn't the case the security must come from Exchange
permissions. Have you by any change gave Domain Users permissions within the
database? These permissions will show up as inherrited when you open a users
properties-> tab Exchange Advanced-> button Mailbox Rights... Check to see
if Everyone or Domain Users (or any other group your users are in) in not
set to Full Mailbox acces. If you are sure that Outlook isn't the one
causing the promblem you might want to try your luck in the Exchange forum?
