Outlook 2000 problem after Registry clean

I used a registry cleaner (XP Repair Pro 2007) as it needed weeding. After
doing so Outlook 2000 will not collect/send emails - I get an error message
saying accounts not properly registered and to redo (error 0x80040154). I
have tried to create new email accounts via 'Mail' in control panel and via
'Accounts' in Outlook but neither work. However, If I either create new
accounts or import accounts in 'Outlook Express' the accounts work.

I need to get Outlook 2000 working correctly after a cleanup of the Registry
- how can this be done. (I have done a system restore to get Outlook running
again - am using XP Windows Home 5.1). Thanks

Is Outlook 2000 installed in Internet Mail Only mode or Corporate/Workgroup
mode?

OK, then. You have two choices: change the mode to CW mode (to give you
access to mail profiles with the Mail applet in Control Panel) or by
removing the existing profile from the registry. In order to create a new
mail profile with IMO, you need to open the registry and remove the registry
key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings. A new one
should be created when you start Outlook again. Were I you, I'd export the
registry key first to save a copy before deleting it.

I tried suggestion 1 but that wiped out my address book. I think the best
solution is to dump XP Repair Pro 2007 .

It doesn't "wipe it out", merely makes it temporarily unavailable. You
should be able to add it back in. Were you using the Windows Address Book
or your Contacts folder for address storage?
 
Yes, but only because I have dumped XPRepairPro. However I have now
discovered another problem - I will start a new thread but basically Outlook
2000 will not let me send emails to addresses which are not in my address
book - that can surely not be right?

Outlook doesn't care, but lets pursue this in the thread you specifically
created for the subject.
