I had posted my problem previously but just now understand
what my problem is.

I had my .pst file password protected, but the password
was saved in the password list, so I didn't have to enter
it each time. <it's a long story how I got to this odd
situation> I had to reformat my hard drive. I backed up
the .pst file but did not remove the password protection.
When I reloaded Outlook and copied in my previous .pst
file, Outlook says that access is denied. It's being
denied because the password is not in the password list
like the .pst file is used to looking for.

What can I do to save this file?
Thanks

David,
Tried immediately when I returned from trip. Couldn't get
to work. Want to make sure I did it right.

I put the unzipped pst19upg.exe and my .pst file in the
same folder. Ran it in a DOS prompt window like this:
pst19upg -x filename.pst

What I got was this:
Could not open pst file filename.pst
ERROR 0x800700005
Program terminated in error (800700005)

I really appreciate your help, David. This .pst file is
very important for me. Do you have any more suggestions?
Thanks,
Doug

Ensure read only flag, of pst, is off.
Might also want to run scanpst.exe , the repair tool. It is sometimes
neccessary to run this several times.

David,
Thought we were getting somewhere. Found read only flag
was set on my .pst file. Took it off and ran
pst19upg.exe. As designed, it successfully exported
my .pst file to a .psx file. However, it would not export
the .psx file back to a .pst file. I'll give you the
warnings at the end of this post.

I then ran the scanpst.exe on my .pst file 5 times. Each
time it said no errors.

Can you help me go from here?
Thanks- Doug
Here's what I got from pst19upg.exe when trying to export
the .psx file back to a .pst file:
-Failed importing PROPERTY 36E41102 (Scode: 80040600)
-Failed importing PROPERTY LIST
-Failed importing FOLDER 0x00000122
-Program terminated in error (80040600)

It would seem to indicate a problem with iether the origonal pst, or the
conversion. All I can say is that has worked for many.

David,
Through your help and another friend, I got this problem
solved. The biggest things were removing the read only
attribute and finding Outlook on my old notebook and
opening it there. Then I removed the password and it
worked well on the new Outlook installation. Thanks for
you help. Your are a blessing to us computer novices.

Yr welcome, I don't profess to be an expert, have just learnt much by my
fundamental mistakes

Hi David,

I am facing same problem...

I had two pst files configured in outlook. One was having password an
the other, which was primary. Mails used to come to this folder an
then used to move to the password protected pst.

I then, reconfigured my mail support. (tools => options => mai
delivery) to exchange server (corporate).
Outlook asked me for a restarting itself.
I restarted and it asked me the password for both the psts....?

it opened one (which was having password previously) but the primar
one it did not...I am wondering how come outlook asked me the passwor
for the other file.

Can anybody assist me?
I either need to remove the pst file password or crack the same (free
:)

I have 650 MB data.

Thanks
Anis
