I have 2 users (the only 2 running on win98) that for some reason today
cannot pull the global address book. They get an error saying "network
problems connecting to the microsoft exchange server" or something to that
effect. I tried syncing the address book and it works fine. Also you can
receive mail but not send. I uninstalled outlook and reinstalled on 1
client and it started working. tried on the other one. still same problem.

again this is win98 running outlook 2003 connecting to exchange 2003 on MS
SBS.

Any ideas will help.

Thanks
Bill

Update to this.. keeps getting stranger and stranger.

If you create a new profile everything works...... untill you exit outlook
then reopen it. Same error.

Is it workstation specific!

Also you mention Outlook 2003 in the body of your post which I imagine is a
typo as this wont install to win 98

Yes I have 32 clients in my building. This is the only one that is still
doing it. I had 2 earlier but was able to fix one by reloading outlook.

When you get the error re "connection to the Exchange Server" do you see any
other errors for instance with the ISA Firewall client or would you think
that error is a red herring.

There are no other errors at all. In fact if I create a new profile with the
same username outlook works fine untill you close it. I was just informed
that when they log into the pc they have to log in 4-5 times before it takes
the username and password. May have been helpfull to know earlier. I think
it may be a DNS or maybe WINS issue at this time.

Thanks
Bill

Yes it could be DNS or WINS, any luck with a host file. I be interested to
see what the IP address is when you ping the server by name. Have seen
instances on Win 98 where it picks up a RAS address. Anything iffy in
WINIPCFG.
