It seems like in the past it was possible to open the calendar view
month/week/day and the default view would include a split screen with folders
on the left and monthly calendars and task lists on the right.
But its been a while and lately, and a few upgrades later, the right-hand
monthly calendars view needs to be dragged open each time that the basic
calendar view is opened.
Is there any way to make the right and left-hand splits the default view?

When you close your Outlook before shutting down, do you have your view as
you like it? Folders and date navigator showing? If yes, then your views
have become corrupt. Close Outlook, find (use hidden/system folders find)
and rename your outcmd.dat file to .old. Reopen Outlook, set your view to
your preferred view and it should stick.
