I have searched expecting to find this problem resolved but maybe my
search technique is not so hot.
Anyway I have very recently re-installed Office 2000 & now I can't open
even simple ".jpg" attachments sent via email in Outlook 2000 .
I get a message saying there is no file association & I should create
one by double clicking on "My Computer" on my Desktop etc
................
The problem is I do not have a "MY Computer" icon on my desktop, or
start menu options.
I expected to be able to follow the instructions by double clicking on
My Copmuter in Explorer, but that approach does not work, & I can't
find an alternative approach via Control Panel.
I know this should be dead simple but I do need a bit of guidance.

What version of Windows? You can always ADD My Computer to the desktop by
customizing the desktop (right-click on it and choose Properties).

Control Panel>File Options>File Types can be used to add the proper file
associations. I was under the impression, however, that the default file
association for JPEG files is IE or Picture Viewer.

Brian,
Thanks for the quick response & my apologies for not reporting bac
equally promptly.
I should have mentioned my OS is XP Pro/SP2.
Your instructions were not precisely correct in my situation but I go
the drift & have now made the correct file asociation so I can now ope
attachements received by Outlook 2000.
Again thanks,
