I use Outlook 2000 for my company email...Incoming mail
(POP3) is no problem, I cannot, however, configure the
SMTP (outgoing) correctly...I have a (e-mail address removed) email
address that I assume uses Hotmail...I've tried both
smtp.email.msn.com & secure.smtp.email.msn.com...none work
at all...any ideas???

I have Outlook 2000 and have used it for months now via a
yahoo account. I have also been unable to send via smtp
for the past week or so. I can't figure out what the
problem is, but because my settings didn't change, I'm
wondering if it has to do with an update?

MSN does not support pop and SMTP once you used it with web mail. Ol2000
does not support webmail...

what isp are you using to connect to your yahoo account? many isp's are
blocking users from sending through any other SMTP server while logged on to
their network.

Diane
I just started having the same problem after years of usage. I use
OptimumOnLine and Outlook 2000. Now I can only receive messages but cannot
send them out. Instead I get the following message:

Quote
Microsoft Outlook

Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. Please review the
list of errors below for more details.

The message could not be sent because it rejected you as the sender. Server
Response: “550 5.1.8 invalid/host-not-in-DNS return address not allowed”.
(Account “mail.optonline.net”, SMTP Server:”mail.optonline.net”, Error
number 0x800ccct8)

1 of 2 tasks have completed successfully

Unquote

I hope you get this message which I am sending from the same PC except that
now I am using Outlook Express.
Thank you
