I have XP sp 2 with Outlook 2000, After I configure pop and stuff, it asked
me if I wanted to make - I think Email manager - I said yes and it downloaded
my email. I closed and open and it asked me again if I wanted - I think Email
manage or the program to be the default and then it started to down load
again. Did it start another pst or does it think I have a different profile.
Do I need to configure my IE so that it knows what the default email program
is and I hadn't done that and it's try to set that up. What could be going
wrong? With the other versions of outlook - I don't get something asking me
to make the program the default.

On a bare XP SP2 system, Outlook Express is set as the default email
program. When you install Outlook, ANY version, it will either ask you if
it should be the default email application, or it will just take over as
default whether you want it to or not. This is normal behavior.

But every time you start it, as the OP says?

Indeed, it wouldn't happen every time unless there's something messed up in
Default Programs. Any thoughts on what he meant by "Email manager"? My
though was Outlook suggesting it wasn't the default and asking if it should
take over.

Will Outlook ask me each time I open it that it wants to be confirmed the
default email program. Thanks for your help.
