The last time Outlook hosed over my PST file, even though I've created a
completely new one, my "Outlook Today" page won't show the number of
messages in any folder that include on the page. I'm using Outlook 2002
(10.4712.4219) SP-2. Any ideas?

Maybe the HTML file used to display the Outlook Today page got screwed
up. Right-click on the Outlook Today folder, click Properties, open the
Home Page tab, and note the path to the HTML file (and that it is
selected to use that file). For Outlook 2002, mine says:

res://C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office10\1033\outlwvw.dll/outlook.htm

Actually this looks to use a DLL to generate the HTML code used for the
page's view.

Since you had to create a new .pst file, any links pointing into your
old .pst file might not be valid as pointers into your new .pst file.
I've seen this happen to the shortcuts in the Outlook Bar. Uncheck
which folders to view in Outlook Today, close that dialog, then reopen
it to reselect the folders you want to see if it then gets the correct
links to the folders in your new .pst file.

That's not the case here. My Outlook Today page is in the outlwvw.dll file,
as your example shows. I even renamed that DLL and used "Repair". What I
got back was exactly what I renamed, right down to the number of bytes,
creation date, and modification date. I then used IE to open the HTML
within the DLL (it's documented how to change the HRML contained within the
DLL), but it all looks good. The problem appears to be in the data binding.
