Outline Mode Slide Label Things

I don't know the proper PPT terminology, but I'll just describe the problem
veyr clearly... I have seen this same problem listed in this discussion with
no clear answers (unless I'm missing something). So there's the outline mode-
and I click on each slide in the outline mode and I am able to enter text.
Most of the time the text then appears on the slide which is not a big deal
and I don't care. Other times it does not show on the slide, which is also
not a big deal and I don't care. THE PROBLEM IS when I save the file and
close it, or when I just switch to the regular slide-vieiwng mode the text
that I have entered (for the slides where the text for some reason does not
appear on the slide after entering it in outline mode) disappears! I thought
I went crazy at first because I faintly rememembered entering text for about
forty slides but it was gone! I have a bunch of huge presentations and i keep
reentering the text and now I'm realizing its a wasted effort because it all
disappears... so what the heck is wrong???

OK, so I think I found the answer to my own question... kind of random and
bizarre... but it turns out that you have to, after opening the file, click
on the slide regular view mode before you click on the slide sorter mode...
and then it allows you to enter the text and for it to display on the slide
or not display if you so choose.. but the important thing is that it appears
in the outline mode, where it needs to be for referencing

I think maybe you're a bit confused!

The outline normally shows either the contents of the slide title box (text
only) and the text in the main text box OR just the title box.

To switch between views show the outlining toolbar (view >
toolbars>outlining) and click expand all or collapse all

Text entered on the outline should appear as the slide title (or as text if
you click "demote" button)

If the outline title doesnt appear in slide show then maybe the title box
has been dragged off slide or the text colour is the same as the background
or there's something in front of the text on your slide

Hope that makes sense
