Hi there;

I have outlook 2003 on a new computer. When I click on
a .pdf file, the outlook 2003 installation process starts
up and tries to install something. The install fails with
an error (likely because Outlook 2003 is a corporate tool
installed from our network). I have tried pointing it to
the install files on my 2003 CD but I still get the error.

Why is outlook trying to install something when
using .PDF files, and how can I stop this from happening?
When I click cancel, the install tries again and then
fails and the .PDF file opens. Outlook 2003 functions
normally.

Any ideas??

Thanks;
Eric

It's a corrupt installer. installing anything that uses the installer
usually fixes it for me - I believe there is also a KB article with other
steps you can try, but I can't locate it.

This is that damn journal viewer. Remove journal viewer
and you'll be fine.
