Installed Outlook 2003 and have been using it now for a
few days, and it seems be comparable to the previous
version. The only problem I have is that it wants to
install something from the PA561401.cab file which is on
the CD. Seems like every message I reply to the Windows
Installer fires up and tries to install. The only way to
stop it, is to reboot the system, which is unacceptable.
I have had simialar problems with other microsoft
products doing this sameting. How can I prevent this
from happening?

Thanks.

Hello Don,

Thank you for posting here.

According to the current situation, I suggest you use the following steps
to narrow down the issue:

1. Disable all the third-party tools, especially the antivirus
applications. Then check the issue.

2. Start Outlook in Safe Mode.
-----------------------------
To do so:
a. Click Start, and then point to Programs.
b. Press CTRL while you click the shortcut for Outlook that you want to
start.
c. Hold down CTRL until you receive a message similar to the following:
"Outlook has detected that you are holding down the CTRL key. Do you want
to start Outlook in safe mode?" Click Yes.

3. Use Detect and Repair
-----------------------
a. On the Help menu, click Detect and Repair.
b. Click Start, and insert the compact disc when prompted.
c. Restart Microsoft Windows when the repair process is complete.

If the issue persists after you perform the above suggestions, please
continue with these steps:

Step 1: Create a new profile to see whether the issue persists.
=============
Please create a new profile with only an account according to the following
Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article:

287072 OL2002: How to Create a New E-mail Profile for Outlook
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=287072

Step 2: Windows Safe mode
=============
Please start the computer into Windows Safe Mode, and check the result.

Step 3: New Windows account
============
Please create a new Windows account with administrator right. Reconfigure
Outlook and test the issue.

If the issue persists, please capture a screen shot of the popup message.
You may attach it in the newsgroup.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other concerns, or need
anything else.

Thanks & Regards
Alan Sun
